Make up trends to look out for in 2018

2018's Bridal Fashion Week has just happened, as well as New York Fashion Week, and we saw some gorgeous make up ideas coming off the runway. Take a look at our top picks, and use them as inspiration for your big day!

  • Monique Lhullier’s Natural Look: For Lhullier’s 2018 collection, the models were given just enough make up to look flawless, but still natural. The focus was on a dewy complexion and highlighted cheekbones. How to translate this trend? Make sure your skin is clean, exfoliated and well moisturized. Apply a light foundation to cover any blemishes or imperfections, as well as a soft brush of blush to give your cheeks a rosy glow. Finish this off with a nude lip with the slightest hint of color.

  • The statement lip: This concept has made a comeback, seen on the Balmain, Valentino and Gucci runways, with dark shades neon pigments. There were even some two-tone lip looks! How to translate this trend? If you want a statement lip on your wedding day, make sure to keep everything else minimal and simplistic. Don't combine a statement smokey eye, with a statement bold lip for example. Steer clear of the darker tones, and rather opt for a bright fuchsia lip.

  • In direct contrast to the statement lip, were the graphic eyes: Seen during Vivienne Westwood and Oscar de la Renta's shows, these include an over-the-top flick or cat's eye and the overlapping of colors on the eyelid. These graphic eye looks are bold, and sure to grab attention! How to translate this trend? Opt for overlapping colors that still compliment each other and aren't too crazy or contrasting. You don't want to look back at your wedding photos one day and wonder what you were thinking! If you like the cat eye look, then follow the trends and go for something dramatic, but stay classic and use black liner rather than any unusual colors.

  • And finally, the Rock 'n Roll eye: This look is inspired by Kate Moss and her iconic black eyeliner, smudged imperfectly to create a rockstar look. How to translate this trend? Go for heavier black eyeliner to create a bold and dark eye, but make sure to keep the rest of your face simple and clean.

Whether you choose to follow the latest trends, or stick to what you know, make sure you're always staying true to yourself. You don't want to look back at your wedding photos in years to come, and not recognize yourself at all!
